Early adolescents in grades 7 and 8 have the ability to draw conclusions from a series of facts. This is called the dialectic or logic stage. Most modern educators overlook this, except in regards to higher math. At MLCA we teach formal logic, logical fallacies, and reasoning skills through tools like the Socratic method and the Aristotelian logic. Most people learn this in college. During the Logic stage, the students practice the science of accurate and "logical" thinking. "Socrates wanted to teach his students to think. The goal of thinking is truth. With this method, knowledge is supported by understanding, and the student goes beneath the surface to penetrate the truth of the matter." RC Sproul Questions?
